At Southwark Park our staff are important to us; we are looking to employ energetic, visionary and enthusiastic teachers who will contribute to the on-going success and development of the school.
Our staff are sociable, supportive and encouraging and we are committed to providing professional development opportunities for all, in line with our school improvement plan. We have a Teaching & Learning Coach on the staff; a highly experienced, outstanding class teacher they will work with teachers on an individual and year group basis. Through observation, planning, work scrutiny and the innovative use of resources they will support teachers ensuring that teaching and attainment improves across the school.
Southwark Park is a two form entry Nursery and Primary School. Our children come from a range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and we celebrate our diversity across the school. Over the course of the year we offer a variety of in-school and after school clubs: cookery, art, multi-media, music, basketball, eco group, gardening, football, dance, multi-skills etc which are greatly enjoyed by the children who participate. We have an active school council that represents the voice of the pupils.
We work very closely in partnership with parents through informal and formal means: parent breakfasts, lunches and workshops where we support and encourage parents to engage with their children’s learning.
As a school we are constantly reflecting on and refining our practice as we look to promote learning as an active, collaborative process.
We are fortunate to be located close to central London enabling us to take advantage of the many places of interest and bring excitement and relevance to our learning. We also welcome into the school talented people from organisations such as The Globe Theatre and the London Philharmonic Orchestra to work with children.
At Southwark Park school we have adopted a coaching model as part of our staff development process. Experienced senior members of staff work with teachers to improve and develop their teaching practice. Staff are also given opportunities to observe other teachers in action and to draw on their knowledge and experience and to share their own practice with others.
We implemented the coaching model with teaching staff and are now extending it to class support staff.
