The Rights Respecting Team ran a workshop after school for parents to learn more about the rights of the child and to explore some of the resources that we use in school to support children’s understanding. The children talked about how they are ‘Rights Holders’ and adults are ‘Duty Bearers’. The children led the workshop by sharing different games we play at school linked to rights.
We decided as a school that we wanted to take part in the Unicef ShoeShare Campaign. The ShoeShare campaign collects old or unwanted shoes. These old or unwanted shoes are then sent for re-use. For every tonne of shoes collected, a donation is made to Unicef which goes towards education programmes around the world. We managed to donate 287 pairs of shoes as a whole school community and some members of our Rights Respecting Team had the pleasure to take them to our nearest Clarks Store.
