Year 6 visit to the Bank of England

Dec 04, 2015

A group pf Year 6 pupils went to the Bank of England this week.  They went round the museum where they learned about the history of the Bank, its buildings, and the people who have shaped it over more than 300 years.  Before leaving they all attempted to lift a block of gold - far harder than it sounds!

They then interviewed people who work at the Bank.  They’ve worked there for between 30 years and 1 week and do a variety of jobs in different departments.  Our reporters (all girls this week) were inspired by the number of women they saw and met in the Bank many of whom were very senior.

There was then a session for the pupils.  There was a voting system where each person chose if they wanted to go to University and they had to act like a professional.  This meant that each person stood up and introduced themselves and shared what their dream job would be and what their back up plan was, in case the dream job didn’t work out.

Our four reporters told me their answers

All these jobs will require hard work at school and University however we are proud of our pupils for being so ambitious and aspirational.  It is great that this visit to the Bank of England has inspired them to achieve their ambitions.
