Year 5 were lucky enough to have a whole day workshop this term from History off the Page earlier this term. The children made a range objects associated with the Vikings including medicine bags ‘to cure the sick’, clay runes ‘to tell the future’ and amulet necklaces such as Thor’s hammer. The children enthusiastically learnt about key battles and re-enacted them with their friends. Year 5 also brushed up on their excavation skills; each group uncovered a range of artefacts from the Viking period and used them to make inferences about the Viking way of life. Lots of the children came to school dressed in Viking outfits which made the events feel even more realistic. A fantastic day!
